What is Metadata?

Metadata is information that describes the content of a web page. Although it is not directly visible to users, it plays a crucial role for search engines, social media, and browsers. Proper metadata configuration improves search engine visibility (SEO), the appeal of shared links on social media, and the accessibility of your website.

Most Important Types of Metadata

Below are the main types of metadata that should be configured for the website Aloha offers:

1. Page Meta

Description: Identifies the specific page of the website for which metadata is being configured. This allows for segmentation and customization of information for each section of the site.

Example: "Home," "Property," "Services."

2. Meta Title (Page Title)

Description: The title that appears in Google search results and on the browser tab.

Recommended length: 50–60 characters.

Example: "Home | Property Name"

3. Meta Description (Page Description)

Description: A brief, persuasive summary of the page that appears in search engine results.

Recommended length: 150–160 characters.

Example: "Discover the best lodging experience at [Property Name]. Explore our rooms, services, and exclusive promotions."

4. Meta Keywords

Description: Relevant words or phrases for the page. Although their importance for SEO has decreased, some platforms still use them.

Example: "accommodation, hotel, vacation, [property name]"

5. Meta Image

Description: The image used to represent the page when shared on social media or displayed in messaging apps.

Recommendations:

  • Ideal size: 1200 x 630 px.

  • Format: JPEG or PNG.

  • Maximum size: 1 MB.
